Before & After: Sample Mixes for Acoustic Gtr & Vocals

It’s amazing what you can do with just a bit of compression, noise reduction, and reverb. If using quality plug-ins or hardware, all you need to do is fine tune your settings and the rest is up to the quality of the recording itself. In this example, you will notice the mixed sample has a much greater depth and presence as well as an increase in overall clarity.

The increased depth and presence can be attributed to the subtle compression and reverb added to both guitar and vocal files. Because the audio was recorded in an isolated setting at our facility, the overall clarity is present in both samples albeit more obvious in the mixed sample as the files have been stripped of excess noise and brought to more appropriate listening volumes.

Of course, careful attention was paid to avoid overproduction as this mix is entirely acoustic and deserves a wide dynamic range as well as authentic vocal sound. All audio was recorded & mixed at Hilltop Studios.
